Stainless Steel Valve Seat Coaxiality and Radial Port Position Tolerance
Circular valve seats and mating bores in stainless steel valve bodies are produced during turning, with coaxiality of related circular fits controlled to 0.012 mm. Radial ports are milled using the drawing’s axis and end face as datums, with hole-pattern position tolerance of 0.015 mm. Mating bores can be machined to H7, with shaft/bore fit tolerances of +/-0.01 mm.
Stainless Steel Wrench Flats and Anti-Rotation Slots on Turned Fittings
Wrench flats, anti-rotation slots and locating faces on turned bodies are produced during milling, with critical dimensional tolerances down to +/-0.003 mm and finish-milled roughness of Ra 1.6 um. Grades 304 and 316 are prone to work hardening during cutting. Sharp tools and steady feeds avoid repeated light cuts over hardened surfaces and reduce slot-width drift. After datum transfer, the orientation of flats relative to sealing features is included in CMM inspection.
Stainless Steel Cross-Drilled Passages, Internal Deburring and Thread Gauging
Valve bodies and sensor fittings with intersecting passages can include axial holes, radial holes and internal channels. Radial hole position relative to the axis is controlled to 0.015 mm. Burrs concentrate at cross-hole intersections, so a dedicated cross-hole deburring operation reduces the effects of residual burrs on assembly and contact surfaces. Threads include metric internal threads starting at M1.4 and NPT, BSP, G and PT pipe threads, inspected with go/no-go gauges.
Stainless Steel Surface Roughness Grading and Inspection Equipment
Different surfaces on the same part are machined to graded roughness requirements: turned outside diameters Ra 0.8 um, finish-milled faces and bored holes Ra 1.6 um, and sealing faces Ra 0.8 um. Precision-polished local critical areas can achieve Ra 0.015 um, with the applicable areas defined by drawing requirements. Dimensions and geometric tolerances are inspected with a Hexagon Inspector Classic 06.08.06 CMM. Side ports and flat profiles are measured with a WanHao Rational VMS-3020G vision measuring machine, and height dimensions are cross-checked with a TRIMOS 600L height gauge.

Applications
Side-Port Valve Bodies for Chemical and Energy Equipment
Typical parts: Side-Port Valve Bodies, Flanged Fittings
Side-port valve bodies and flanged fittings connect fluid passages to external piping. Grade 316 or 316L can be selected for fluid-contact areas. Circular valve seats, bores and sealing end faces are machined together with radial ports and flange holes. Large flanges can be machined within the diameter 1250 mm turning range. High-pressure, sulfur-containing or subsea applications require further evaluation against drawings and operating conditions.
Cylinder End Caps for Washdown Environments
Typical parts: Cylinder End Caps, Locating Interface Components
Cylinder end caps support guide and seal components. For equipment exposed to cleaning agents or cutting fluids, corrosion-resistant grades can be selected according to the medium. Mating bores, locating registers and sealing grooves are turned, while mounting faces, anti-rotation slots and side holes are milled. Mating bores can meet H7, and sealing groove surfaces can achieve Ra 0.8 um.
Instrument Housings with Lateral Interfaces
Typical parts: Sensor Housings, Instrument Flow Fittings
Sensor housings accommodate internal components, while flow fittings connect measurement interfaces to piping. Cylindrical shapes, bores and end threads are machined together with side interfaces and wrench flats for installation and tightening in the specified orientation. Side interface positions can be inspected with a vision measuring machine.
Automotive Fluid Fittings with Multiple Interfaces
Typical parts: Side-Port Fluid Fittings, Sensor Adapters
These fittings connect to the main pipeline while providing lateral sampling or sensor interfaces. External threads, sealing end faces and side ports are machined together. Supported pipe threads include NPT, BSP, G and PT. The factory is certified to IATF 16949. The customer defines on the drawing whether the part is safety-critical.
Medical Instrument Locating Connectors and Handles
Typical parts: Locating Connectors, Instrument Handles
Connectors and handles support instrument connection, positioning or operation. Locating slots and anti-rotation flats can be machined into turned grip profiles and circular interfaces. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel can be polished and passivated. The factory is certified to ISO 13485. The customer specifies the material, cleaning conditions and applicable medical standards.

From small connectors to large structural parts, we can arrange turning, milling and necessary grinding, EDM or wire EDM. Passivation and polishing are coordinated with interface and surface requirements, allowing you to source complete parts with finished circular valve seats, side ports and wrench flats.
Tiered Equipment Strategy for Low-Cost CNC Machining, Quality-Assured Production
XCM CNC operates four tiers of CNC equipment from mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, and Europe and North America. Lower-tolerance operations such as wrench flats and general mounting faces use mainland Chinese or Taiwanese equipment. High-precision sealing fits and side-port positioning use imported machines such as DMG and Mazak. Equipment is matched to each part’s actual accuracy requirements, reserving machines with higher hourly costs for demanding operations and reducing machining costs while meeting drawing requirements.
Prototype Approval of Installation and Tightening before Production
Prototypes typically take 3-7 days and include rotational fits and lateral features. Customers can use samples to check interface orientation, wrench access and assembly with mating components. Production begins after sample approval and follows the approved process and inspection requirements.
Drawing Confidentiality and Inspection Documents with Each Order
An NDA can be signed before complete valve body and fitting drawings are received. CMM dimensional reports, FAI first article reports and material certificates can be provided according to the order, recording side-hole positions, rotational fits and specified grades. Passivation records are supplied with the shipment according to treatment requirements.
FAQ
How should the orientation of multiple side ports be defined?
Relate side-port orientations to the axis, end face or a specified locating flat on the drawing, and define the positional relationships between interfaces. Section views and orientation callouts can show how each interface faces on the complete part for machining and inspection.
Is 316L or 303 suitable for a fitting exposed to corrosive fluid?
316L can be considered for chloride-containing media, while the suitability of 303 must be evaluated for the application. Specify the grade and condition according to the actual medium, temperature and corrosion-resistance requirements. We use these details to evaluate machining of circular fits and lateral interfaces.
How should cleanliness and pressure or leak tests be specified?
The order can specify acceptance limits for internal edges and the required cleanliness level. Pressure or leak testing should be listed separately with the standard, method and acceptance requirements. Availability is evaluated separately for the project.
Do wrench flats need the same tolerance as sealing fits?
No. The two features can use different tolerances. Wrench-flat dimensions depend on tool engagement and installation space, while sealing features are machined to fit requirements. If wrench flats also serve as locating or anti-rotation datums, define their orientation relative to sealing features on the drawing.
How are polishing and passivation specified on a combined part?
Specify treatment areas separately for sealing features, connection threads and visible surfaces, and agree on final mating dimensions after treatment. Passivation can follow ASTM A967 or a customer-specified standard. Mirror, bright or matte polishing can be accepted against an appearance standard or sample.
What is the MOQ, and how long do samples and batch orders take?
The minimum order is 1 piece, with customization from drawings or samples. Sample lead time is 3-7 days and production typically takes 10-15 days, depending on part complexity and quantity. Sample approval is required before production.
What should I send for a quotation, and is an NDA available?
Provide 2D/3D drawings, grade and condition, quantity, tolerances, application details such as the medium and interface orientations, and surface and inspection requirements. Accepted formats include STEP, IGES, STP, DWG and dimensioned PDF files. An NDA can be signed before design information is submitted if needed.
Which payment, shipping and packaging options are available?
